Venture deep in the Carpathian Mountains, away from the crowds and into the raw wilderness of white landscapes for 7 days of splitboard freeriding adventure in Romania! With many peaks of over 2,500m to choose from and diverse hiking trails, the Transylvanian Alps will not disappoint, complemented with great food and well-deserved R&R!

What you need to know about this Splitboard tour in Romania:

This is a 7-day group/shared trip organized on 2023-2024 season. Tour can be organized for private groups / on other dates too. Party size 4-6
Included: 6 nights accommodation and breakfast in selected alpine huts & chalets; professional and licensed mountain guide; Bucharest airport transfer for small groups; transfer between hotel locations; T-Shirt
Not included: splitboard equipment and avalanche safety gear (available on booking page at extra cost); other meals, expenses and supplies
We will ride in 3 different groups of the Carpathian Mountains: Bucegi and Ciucas around Brasov, Fagaras around Sibiu
Uphill climbing ranging from 700m -1000m mostly on foot. Downhill 1000-2400m. Multiple routes available of varying difficulty
Exact itinerary will be agreed depending on group preference and physical condition AND weather/snow conditions
Recommended for experienced freeriders with excellent physical condition. At all times safety will be our first concern

Additional information

Group trips will take with a minimum of 4 riders. Guide/rider ration 4:1.

We will reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on the weather conditions or the terrain to improve the safety and enjoyment of the participants.

Moments to expect in the Carpathian Splitboard Tour:

Day 0 - Welcome In Romania!

First, we get to know each other and talk about our freeriding experience. Our team will pick you up from Bucharest or Sibiu Airport and drive you to Brasov. Here, you can visit the city or chill in your room and prepare for the next days. Once the group is ready, we will decide on the itinerary for the next days!

Day 1 + Day 2: First adventures!

On our first day we head to Prahova Valley and start climbing to reach Piatra Mare plateau at an altitude of 1800m. After lunch stop at a chalet we're ready for our first ride! On Day 2 we head into the spectacular Ciucas Mts. with the highest peak of 1.954m and 2 options to choose from for our descent. On a good day you can do 4-5 rides!

Day 3 + Day 4: Backcountry adventures!

Now we head into the majestic Fagaras Mountains, the Transylvania's Alps! We go to Bale Lake by cabelcar (above Transfagarasan covered by snow!) and from here our options are endless: from 2.400m high we can choose how many times and which routes we use for our descent! On Day 4 we stay in Balea area and try a ride which will test our endurance and adrenalin levels! While going up to the ridge, either on ski or splitboard, you start getting anxious for the downhill ride. First, we enjoy a stunning panorama of Făgăraș and then prepare for the exciting downhill ride!

Day 5 + Day 6: Freeriding in Transylvania Alps

On day Day 5 we explore the Southern side of Fagaras Mts. and get more awesome views. Depending on group preference, we will agree on our route beforehand as this area is wilder and needs more supplies. On Day 6 we descend from Balea closer to ground level and start preparing for departure and transfer the next day.
